The conference was held in cooperation with the Center for Peace and Democracy, joint chair by Tamar Hagar and Tofaha Saba.
Prof Itchak Weismann, Head of the Jewish Arab Center, spoke during the second session. Prof Weismann presented a historical review on the attitude of Zionism towards racism. He indicated in his review that Zionist have promoted quite liberal values since its early history, but in the reality since 1967, following the occupation of the territories, the rise of Jewish and Muslim fundamentalism and the growing rifts in Israeli society is threatening with growing racism. Prof Weismann concluded by stating his believe that the way to fight growing racism is by striving to set clear boundaries, sane religion and pluralistic education.
