Lecture: The 1948 war and the first decade of the State: Arab citizens in a Jewish state - A challenge to the young democracy

On May 7th, 2012 the fourth meeting of the students forum "Listening Together" was held at JAC. At the meeting,  Dr. Sara Osatzky-Lazar spoke about the first decade of Israeli statehood, focusing on various aspects of the military regime that Israel, as a young democracy, imposed on the Palestinian Arabs in the wake of the 1948 war. A discussion followed concerning the decisions taken by the state at the time and their implications for today's relations between the state and the Arab minority.
